A Community Based player is a player that lives in the same high school district as the majority of the players on his roster. To play in this tournament, no more than 2 non-community based players can play on a roster. For example, if a Jackson team has one player that lives in the Perry high school district and one player lives in the Northwest high school district, they can play in the Blue Division since they have two or less non-community players. If a team has three non-community players, the team can not play in the tournament. If you have more than 2 community based players, your team is not eligible to participate.
In 2010, we will attempt to separate the 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U divisions into two separate Baseball Tournaments. We will have a Travel Team Tournament and an All-Star/Non-Travel Team Tournament. The tournament will be a combination of pool play and then seeded into a single-elimination tournament. The actual pool play divisions will be set-up based on the amount of registrations for each age group that is received. More details to follow as tournament date draws near.
A Travel Team is a team that plays in a travel league or a team that plays as a tournament team. For example, if your team plays in the SSBL, it is considered a Travel Team. If your players play on different rec teams during the season but also during the season they combine to play in tournaments, it is considered a Travel Team. If your players play on different rec ball teams during the year and after the season is completed, they combine to create an All-Star team, it is not considered to be a Travel Team.
Any team that has played in an “Open” or Travel Tournament prior to the Gary Bowen Tournament will be considered as a Travel Team and will be placed in the Travel Bracket, regardless of All-Star or Rec. Status.
