JBA Travel League

Updated 6/27/15.

The JBA offers travel baseball for players age 10-14u.
The board has also passed the addition of 9u travel for the upcoming season.
That along with the 16u and 18u programs offered through our alliance with the Jackson Diamond Club and Jackson Baseball provides travel level baseball for players 9 through 18.
Starting last year the format of the travel program began to change. This year that format continues to evolve.
The focus of the program is to provide players with higher level coaching and instruction, higher level competition and the chance to learn under the same system used by the Jackson Varsity baseball staff.
The JBA has worked closely with the JHS baseball coaching staff to update the travel program to make it a true development system to prepare players for the high school program.

This includes players trying out for roster spots every year, This is done to encourage player's continued development while also allowing players the opportunity to make a team. This also follows the format the players will see once part of the high school program where teams and positions are re-evaluated every year.
This also includes the re-balancing of teams every year and may include moving teams from evenly split to a-b type format. This choice will be evaluated each year for 11u and 12u teams. Team 9u and 10u will be split teams. Teams 13u and 14u will be set by the varsity staff. Teams in each age group will be asked to work together during the preseason.
Managers also will be continuing to increase their knowledge of the game and coaching techniques. They will be attending clinics with the varsity staff and using the same philosophies as the varsity staff.  Each manager will have access to the varsity staff for input, ideas and solutions to team issues.
All of these changes will be published in the new travel bylaws which are currently being finalized by the JBA and will be posted here when complete.
